Puma PUK-65R Cast Iron 3-Cylinder Single-Stage Air Compressor Pump

The Puma PUK-65R is a heavy-duty industrial air compressor pump designed for reliability, long service life, and consistent airflow in demanding applications. Built with a solid cast iron body, cylinders, and heads, this pump is made to withstand tough operating conditions while maintaining dependable performance.

Unlike traditional side-by-side piston designs, this pump features a “W” shaped three-cylinder configuration. This design helps separate the cylinders, allowing them to run cooler and more efficiently, which reduces heat buildup and helps extend the overall life of the pump.

This oil lubricated compressor pump produces 14–22 SCFM depending on RPM, making it a great option for replacing worn compressor pumps or building a custom compressor system. This pump is most commonly paired with gas engines of 8-13HP or electric motors of 5 HP, providing flexibility for both stationary shop compressors and mobile gas-powered applications. 

The pump also includes head unloaders connected by a 1/4" copper line designed for dual control or gas engine continuous run applications. In gas-powered setups, this system allows the pump to spin freely and unload when the compressor reaches pressure, preventing unnecessary pumping, reducing heat buildup, and greatly extending pump life.

If the pump is being used with a standard electric motor without dual control, the pump will operate normally with this line left dis connected. No air will escape out of the line it only functions with incoming air pressure. They can also be removed and the 1/8" ports plugged if preferred.

Replacement Pump Note

This model is the PUK-65R, which is the same pump as the standard PUK-65 with one key difference.

The air discharge connection is located on the right side when facing the front of the pump (opposite the flywheel side).

A standard PUK-65 typically has the discharge on the left side, but this pump can still be used as a direct replacement. You would simply reroute or flip the main discharge line to the opposite side to connect to the pump.

The tank discharge connection is a 1/2" JIC flare fitting, which can also be used with standard 1/2" copper tubing with a flared end.

For reference, the pump measures approximately 14" tall (without the unloader line) x 18" wide x 11" deep at the widest point.

This pump is also equipped with a rubber service line connected to the oil drain port, making oil changes easier. This line can be removed if preferred.
